Lot 1
Very rare antique Baccarat four-flower bouquet paperweight. A claret pompon, with yellow star cane stamens, centers the arrangement, bordered by two Type-I pansies, each with two, shaded, purple, upper petals, and a trio of cobalt blue and white arrowhead cane lower petals. A white double clematis, surrounded by five green leaves, blooms at the top of the bouquet, while a red bud, green leaves, and twisted stems complete the design, over clear star-cut ground. The clematis and pansies each have matching pale yellow star/honeycomb centers. Diameter 3 9/16.

"In contrast to the work of the other French factories, Baccarat produced conspicuously formal floral arrangements. These masterfully portrayed flowers combine to form a delightful garden, The millefiori cane sections that compose the bottom of the pansies indicate that this weight was produced in the early part of the classic period"--The Art of the Paperweight--Challenging Tradition.

Lot 2
Extremely rare antique Clichy three-flower bouquet paperweight. The bouquet is topped by a pink flower, with six millefiori petals, around a pink, green, and white complex cane center, which shares an erect green stem with two small pink buds. A purple lampwork blossom and slender purple bud, fill one side of the bouquet, while a maroon and white millefiori flower, and matching bud comprise the other. The three leafy, green stems of the flowers are gathered and tied with a narrow pink ribbon. "Some fantastic flowers have petals fashioned from lengths of the cane that have been sliced through lengthwise, exposing the interior of the cane, the petal tips showing the bisected cane ends, a remarkable feat and an exercise of imagination that represents paperweight-making at its best."--Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights. Clear ground. Diameter 2 15/16".
