A large pink-shaded rose, with tiers of cascading petals, is flanked by two companion buds, each cupped by green sepals and emerging from a sturdy stem, and is crowned by a halo of five dew-studded green leaves. A dense cambered gathering of complex millefiori, several repeating throughout the design, including arrowhead canes, stars, crimps and bull’s-eyes, is the blue, red, purple and white playground of a Cyrillic “KT” cane, a large date cane and two bird silhouettes, the latter two the only green elements in the design. The unusual collection of canes is discussed in the 2002 and 2007 PCA Bulletins, on pages 9-14 and 64-65 respectively, and attributed to Russian artists. “The Russian Empire invited art masters from around the world, so it’s possible that some millefiori glass masters immigrated to Russian from Bohemia, Silesia, or France. This would explain why Russian paperweights are very hard to find but are excellent examples of glassmaking art.” Fine condition. Diameter 3 5/16”, height 1 5/8”

In the style of the dazzling European decorative gardens, four triangular panels of tightly-packed and varied millefiori canes, including the silhouette of a dog, are separated by a cruciform of white complex canes, bordered by white filament-encased pistachio-green twists, with a large complex cane at the apex. A central red, blue and white arrowhead cane is encircled by a ring of green and white star and bull’s-eye canes, which in turn is surrounded by a five-loop garland, each one a unique loop of complex canes, including cogs, crosses, stars and four-leaf clovers in white, yellow, red, green and blue. A single Gridel cane of a goat, a squirrel, a rooster, a horse and a deer punctuate each of the garland’s inner curves. White upset muslin cushion ground. Diameter 3 1/2”

A large red, white and blue pastry mold cane centers three concentric rings of contrasting millefiori, one of deep purple crimp canes, one of white and red edelweiss and one of nineteen pink and green iconic rose canes. Six C-scroll garlands, each different from the next, include two garlands or roses, one with eight pink and white roses and the other with seven pink and green roses, mark the brand of Clichy. Clear ground. Diameter 2 13/16”

A beautiful and lush flower, with cascading tiers of thin variegated pink petals, has a red and white floret at its nexus and sits atop a radically curving stem shared by three ribbed dark green leaves. A rare blue and white arrow cane type II primrose centers an upright bouquet built upon four tiers of green leaves that are drawn down into a gathered and tapering stem. Framing the primrose are four flowers, two white and two blue, each centered by a complex cane. A spiraling blue and white torsade encircles the base. Star-cut clear ground. A rare white stardust mushroom culminates in a colorful close packed display of complex arrow, trefoil, star, shamrock, fortress and bull’s-eye canes. A blue-encased white twist torsade surrounds the stem of the mushroom. A small clear vessel, adorned with geometric faceting and rising into a thin neck with elegant elongated facets to a flared rim, is topped by a geometrically faceted clear stopper that contains a lush bouquet of small lampwork flowers and millefiori buds, in red, white, blue and yellow, cupped by serrated green leaves. A flared clear vessel, engraved with a trailing ivy vine with tendrils and leaves leading up to a blue and white torsade rim, terminates in a clear glass collar resting above a crown cushion with red and green twisted ribbons alternating with white latticinio twists, radiating from a central yellow, salmon and blue complex cane. Eight printies encircle the base of the vessel. Fine condition. Diameter 2 3/4”, height 4 15/16”
